What families are saying:
"I am a giant fan of the Secret Forest Playschool. I love the structure of the day that is preparing my girl for kindergarten. The communication I receive from the teachers is thoughtful, well-planned and purposeful. Ms. Meghan and Ms. Laura are always ready with hug when a kid needs it, words of encouragement when times get tough, and rules when the shenanigans get going. I love dropping her off to a breakfast table full of smiling faces, knowing they are going to use their imaginations, create art of some form or another, and play outside till her hearts content. Whether it's snowshoeing, hiking, sliding, digging, swinging, climbing, or building, my girl comes home tired out from all her adventures. When I pick her up, she's full of stories to tell and smells like fresh air and sunshine. What more could a mom ask for??" -Maggie Reed
"The Secret Forest Playschool has been an awesome fit for my little guy who does not like to sit still for long. He gets to do what he loves: play, explore, and create all day and is a happy boy because of it. He started with half days but we quickly realized that was not enough and moved him to a full day. It has been great to see a transition from him starting out somewhat tentative in a new environment to totally engaged and outgoing. He is very comfortable with Ms. Meghan and his friends. I know that he is learning a variety of social skills and self-help skills that will continue throughout a lifetime. She knows when to assist and when to stand back and encourage their own problem-solving. I am confident that because of his experience at the Secret Forest Playschool, he will go to Kindergarten with the skills necessary to thrive and be successful and happy!" -Delisa Moore
"When our daughter and I decided to make the move to the Twin Ports area from DC the thing that I was most nervous about was finding a good daycare for her. In short when we moved here not only did we leave the normal things such as friends and a job behind, but we also left a daycare that had become like family to us. So finding a spot for her that could take even the smallest amount of the sting out of leaving the old daycare was vital. In doing extensive research before we made the move I came across The Secret Forest Playschool's website, and I was very interested. I showed it to my husband and we paid a visit to "Ms. Meghan" and her new school right away. We pretty much instantly knew this is where our daughter needed to be. Not only did we want her at SFP, but we wanted her there as much as possible which meant finding her a daycare for Fridays. As hard as that sounds we managed to find something that worked for us on Fridays and she was able to be at SFP four days a week. SFP offers our daughter, and hopefully our son in a few years, a unique opportunity to extensively explore the outside world through play. Experiences and opportunities (snowshoeing, sledding, curling, mushing, and school campouts) that I never even dreamed of as a kid have been given to our daughter. Needless to say the sting of leaving our previous daycare behind has been replaced with the most perfect mixture of friendships, love, care, learning, and adventure. There are no words that could ever adequately explain how happy we are to have found the SFP."-Anne Cockerham
"When we moved here a year ago we enrolled our oldest son in the Secret Forest Playschool. He was shy, timid and had never really been away from me. He has thrived at this wonderful school exploring nature. He has become so confident and self assured as well as learned wonderful social skills. His friendships he has developed at school are so sweet they are more like a family than schoolmates. These skills he has learned from SFP will carry him through his whole education and we are so grateful to Ms Meghan for creating such a wonderful place for our children." -Nikki Welle
